Trinity AgTech acquires Agrimetrics’ satellite analytics technology in landmark agri-tech deal

Trinity AgTech, part of Trinity Natural Capital Group, today announced that it has acquired a significant suite of satellite data analytics technology from Agrimetrics, the provider of cloud-based data marketplace and analytics tools for the agri-food and related sectors, helping it to equip farmers and landowners with the most robust insights into their natural capital assets.

Press Release: 11th December 2025

The acquisition includes advanced satellite imagery analysis tools developed by Agrimetrics over the past decade, and used across private and public sector projects, from farm yield forecasting to environmental monitoring.

Having rapidly emerged as a global leader in smart farming and natural capital management, Trinity AgTech’s flagship software platform, Sandy, is widely regarded as one of the most credible toolkits for measuring and improving natural assets, covering soil health, carbon, biodiversity, water quality and financial performance, in one integrated system.

The new acquisition completes the loop on all areas of data capture. The company’s platform already utilises information from farmer observations, on-farm software and instruments, soil tests, and remote sensing such as LiDAR scanning, with analytics developed in-house.

By combining these sources with leading satellite imagery and in-house AI-enabled analytics, Trinity AgTech’s smart software will deliver near real-time insights on crop and grass analytics and insights, soil conditions, water flows and overall natural capital assets across every field in the UK, Europe, the US and well beyond.

With more frequent and detailed data flowing from multiple sources into Trinity’s Sandy platform, the quantity and quality of insights further improve, making analytics even more robust and credible, and even more user-centric.

Farmers will be alerted earlier to issues such as crop stress, disease risk or water shortages, and will be able to quantify outcomes, from yield forecasts to carbon sequestration, with greater credibility.

This is designed to bolster farm resilience and profitability by helping to optimise inputs, reduce waste, protect soils and increase productivity.

The enriched data will also support participation in markets for high quality natural capital credits, by providing reliable evidence of environmental stewardship and more timely and insightful management of those assets, opening new revenue streams for rural businesses.

Continuing UK Agri-Tech innovation

Agrimetrics was established in 2015 as one of the UK’s four Agri-Tech Centres, before becoming a fully commercially funded company in 2024. It developed data platform and cutting-edge satellite data solutions, including artificial intelligence capable of identifying, among other things, crop types from space and predicting yields under threat from adverse events.

Its tools have been deployed across the agri-food supply chain and by government organisations, and adapted to tackle challenges such as improving soil quality and reducing herbicide use.

By acquiring Agrimetrics’ satellite analytics platform, Trinity AgTech is safeguarding and extending this decade-long national innovation.

“This passing of the torch from Agrimetrics to Trinity AgTech is a win for UK and global agri-tech,” said Dr Hosein Khajeh-Hosseiny, founder and executive chairman of Trinity Natural Capital Group.

“We’re ensuring that the UK’s investment and immense expertise in satellite analytics will carry on and scale up. Integrating Agrimetrics’ market leading technology into our ecosystem of data sources means farmers, land managers and other food and farming stakeholders will have even more robust analytics, with a much reduced data collection burden.”

David Flanders, director of Agrimetrics, welcomed the agreement, stating, “Our team has spent years developing world-class satellite data analytics for agriculture. We set out to turn complex Earth observation science into practical tools that people on the ground can trust. Our platform brings together satellite imagery, advanced statistics and AI models to quantify what is happening in fields nearly every day, from crop performance to environmental risks.

“It is fantastic to see Trinity AgTech take this forward. Trinity’s vision for empowering farmers, aligns perfectly with the original mission of Agrimetrics. This acquisition means the technology will not only live on, but reach even more end-users in farming and environmental management in the UK and beyond, exactly what we always hoped for.”

Enhanced daily farm insights

“We’re excited that, with this technology, farmers will get high-frequency, actionable intelligence without extra work on their part,” said Professor Jonathan Hillier, Trinity AgTech’s managing director of science.

“By using satellite data and our analytical technology to remotely monitor and analyse fields, we can free farmers from much of the data gathering, while still providing a far richer picture of what’s happening on their land. It’s about working smarter, not harder, and it will help farmers make better, more credible and more profitable decisions in real time.”

By incorporating Agrimetrics’ satellite data technology, Trinity AgTech is reinforcing its position at the forefront of UK and global agri-tech innovation.

“This is about equipping the food and farming sector with the best and most credible intelligence to boost profitability and sustainability,” Dr Khajeh-Hosseiny added.

“We’re proud that, with this move, Trinity AgTech is carrying forward a UK-backed innovation legacy. It ensures we continue delivering helpful, credible solutions for farm resilience, profitability and environmental excellence.”
